When an Outcome Masquerades as a Goal

Ever feel like you just aren't sticking the goal/focus? “I just want to feel confident in my role.”

Important? Yes.

Clear? Also yes.

The focus of a coaching session? No.

That line names a destination—an outcome once the work has already done its job. It tells you where the client wants to arrive, not where the exploration needs to happen.

Outcomes are helpful for orientation.

Here's to Bad Dance Parties and Good Friends

Remember that moment when I suggested we all dance?
What I conjured up—when it was still safe and undefeated inside my brain—was, without question, a mind-blowing, unforgettable experience.
Fueled by the moment, my complete confidence in Tirzah’s ability to make anything happen, and all of you very willing side-kicks, I was certain I could see it clearly: this event didn’t just need a dance party—we could absolutely pull off a next-level one.
And then… it escaped my brain.
Almost immediately, I realized this idea—once released into the wild— was questionable at best.
Awkward. Dubious.

If you’re looking for tidy answers, this probably isn’t your outlet.

This is a space for group and team coaches who are willing to experiment, get a little messy, and practice mastery in real time. We gather to sharpen our craft, challenge familiar patterns, and stretch what group coaching can actually be.

This is where we think out loud, test ideas, play with edges, reflect honestly, and refine—together. Because masterful coaching doesn’t show up polished.

It gets practiced into place.

This collective is for coaches actively shaping what mastery looks like in groups and teams. We share what works, question what doesn’t, and stay curious when things feel a little overloaded.

We’re less interested in perfect answers and more committed to meaningful exploration.

We’re not just talking about the future of coaching. We’re practicing it—together.

Yes! So easy to get into the "I notice" trap and (not so) subtly direct a client's attention! I love the reminder to ask a question instead!
