The Power of Perseverance

Updated: Nov 14

Our beliefs are like the bouncers of our potential—deciding which dreams get in and which are left shivering outside. They’re based on past experiences, like that time we thought we’d make it to the gym every day for a month… only to discover that our couch has a magnetic pull we simply can’t resist. Because of these “data points,” we sometimes cap our goals, setting a ceiling on what we think we can achieve.

Enter excuses, the most persuasive “lawyers” of our minds, arguing why “now’s not the time” or why “that dream is reserved for people who drink green smoothies every morning.” They may sound legit—citing everything from the lack of time to how Mercury is in retrograde—but let’s be honest: they're just there to keep us cozy in the comfort zone, the land of Netflix and snacks.

But perseverance? That’s the superhero cape we all need. Choosing to stick it out, even when the going gets tough, is like saying, “Thanks for the suggestion, Excuses, but I’ll take it from here.” It’s the difference between turning roadblocks into speed bumps and using each “oops” moment as a launchpad for growth. People who embrace perseverance don’t let their past failures decide their future; they laugh at setbacks, give excuses a wink, and keep chugging along.

In the end, a gallon of perseverance is a lot easier to swallow than even a sip of regret-flavored kombucha. Every step forward is a choice to pave the road to our best self, no matter how many times we trip along the way. So, let’s pour a big ol’ glass of perseverance, raise a toast to ditching regret, and chase those dreams with all the confidence of someone who’s convinced the universe is their biggest fan. Cheers!

  • Don't forget to include some powerful questions to that gallon of perseverance:

    • What is yours to make happen?

    • What are you robbing yourself/others of if you surrender?

    • What/where are all the places you decline defeat?
